Congratulations, Dr. Andrew Nevarez!
Andrew gave a beautiful dissertation talk on his Ph.D. project entitled “Mechanism of dual-targeting of HEMERA to the chloroplasts and nucleus”. He has also passed his Ph.D. defense. Congratulations Andrew on reaching this milestone in your life!

M. Chen lab received funds from NIH for purchasing a new confocal microscope for the UCR Imaging Core.
M. Chen lab received $155,000 supplemental funds from NIGMS to contribute to the purchase of a state-of-the-art Zeiss LSM880-Airyscan confocal microscope for the UCR Imaging Core. M. Chen lab received a NIH award to investigate the function of photobodies.
M. Chen lab was awarded a 4-yr grant to investigate the function of photobodies in plant light signaling from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences. We appreciate the continuing support from NIGMS.

Welcome Keunhwa!
M. Chen lab welcomes a new member, Dr. Keunhwa Kim. Keunhwa received extensive training in plant photobiology in his PhD and postdoctoral work with Dr. Giltsu Choi at KAIST in Korea, he joins the lab as an Assistant Specialist. Keunhwa will contribute to our efforts in understanding the function of photobody biogenesis in light signaling.
